All musher need to sign a decalartion that they participate in the race on their own risk.
Liability insurance is mandatory.
All musher-meetings and price-awards are mandatory.
One sled-team consists of one or two musher and an maximum dog-pool of 14 dogs. The maximum number of dogs used per stage is 10 dogs. One skijöring-team consists of one or two skijörer with an maximum dog-pool of 4 dogs. The maximum number of dogs used per stage is 2 dogs.
The race-organisation can limit the team-size due to the conditions.
Dogs that can no longer run in the team during a stage, must be carried to the finish-line inside the sledbag. Each team and each musher is adviced to help other teams in case of emergency.
The trail is marked with G-R-O-Signs. Other trails will not be physically closed, so mushers must pay attention to the trail-markers. If a team take the wrong trail, the race-marshal shall be informed as soon as possible, and immediately after the team crosses the finish-line.Taking the wrong trail will lead to time penalty.
Fairness and good sportmanship shall prevail. When a team is being passed, the overtaken team must slow down. If the overtaking team requests, the overtaken team must stop.
To safe the conditions of the trail, all mushers are adviced to use for slow-down or stop the team the braking-pad. The claw-brake shall be used only in difficault situations.
Delayed teams to the start-line have to wait until the chief-timer finds a proper time. The orginial starting-time will apply.
The sled shall be equipped with two snowhooks, a sledbag, braking pad and claw-brake.In the sledbag must be place for one dog and the mandatory gear, better place for two dogs. The braking-pad shall be reachable with both heels from the runners and shall be equipped with good functional flap-mechanism. In addition the braking-pad shall be equipped with nails or chains.
Mandatory Gear : First-Aid-Kit, dog-snacks, one dog-harness, one neck-collar, piece of rope to fix a team or dog, 4 booties per dog at each start .
Before the race starts all equipment must be checked and approved of by the race-marshall.
Helmet is mandatory for every driver also for skijörers during the race. During the night-stages the driver and the skijörer has to use a head-light with extra batteries.
The minimum starting-age of all dogs must be at least 18 months by the first race-day. All dogs must be chipped for identification. Vet-check is mandatory, and all dogs need to have passport that shows their chip-number and all neccessary vaccinations.
All dogs brought to the race shall have valid vaccinations against distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus. Vaccinations against bordetella and para influenza is highly recommended.
All dogs shall get the best possible care during the whole race-time, also dogs who are out of the race. If a dog shows any sign of a medical condition, the musher must contact a race-veterinarian immediatly.
No person is allowed to perform any medical treatment to the dogs without authorisation by the chief-race-veterinarian.
Doping is forbidden.
Chief-veterinarian has the authority to take a dog out the race.
Race-Marshall and Jury :
Protests must be handed to the race-marshall within 30 min after the last team crossed the finish-line.
Any protest violated of any rules or other problems, will be managed by the race-jury.
The race-jury includes the race-marshall, the judge, the chief-veterinarian, trail-boss, chief-timer and representative from ths mushers. Race-marshal alone can give only a musher or a team a warning,without confirmed by the jury. Time-penalty or disqualifications can only be given by the jury.
Disaster-days and race-progress :
Each team has the possibilty to take two times / for two stage their disaster-day. The team can apply the ´day´ at the race-marshal before the stage starts or immediatly after the stage or when the team was not able to finish the stage in case of accident or other problems.
The time-penalty will be 160% of the last five teams in this stage. This rule also includes the first stage when a team has problems to enter the race in time, cased to car-problems or other problems.
The race-marshal may take a team out of the competion if two consecutive stages are not within 160% of the average time of the last 5 teams.
In case of omission or possible doubts the IFSS-race-rules shall apply.
